Hickory-Fountain Baseball Opening Day is Saturday, April 22, 2017.  Every team will be scheduled for a short exhibition game as well as team and individual photos.  And of course we hope that everyone will participate in the Opening Day Parade, Hall of Fame Induction, and Ceremonial First Pitch scheduled for Noon!

Don't worry about killing time between your game and the parade as we will have tons of food, music, and fun to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

2017 Opening Day Parking

We have over 500 players in our baseball program so you can well imagine how many people we'll have attending our Opening Day festivities at Hickory Park.  Needless to say there is not enough parking at Hickory Park to accommodate all the family and friends of our Hickory ballplayers who will be attending Opening Day.  In addition, with hundreds of young children running around and having fun, it is just not safe to have cars going in and out of the parking lot during the day.

In order to get folks to and from Hickory Park, we have set up shuttle buses that will be running all day from our two park and ride locations.  The buses will start running at 7:30 and will run until at 5:00pm.  The bus makes two stops to pick up passengers and both locations have a generous amount of free parking.

Pick up #1 - Park and Ride Lot at Tucker Field

Pick Up #2 - The front (route 1 side) of Hickory Elementary

Try to arrive at either of the Park and Ride locations at least 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled activity.  We have multiple buses running but there will be a line and you won't want to miss out on any of the fun at Hickory Park.  Please note, the bus will NOT pick anyone up from the Rt. 543 (Ady Road) side entrance to Hickory Elementary, so don't park down there and hope to wave them down - they can't and won't stop.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that because of the safety issues mentioned above, we will NOT be allowing people to pull onto the lot at Hickory Park to drop off family members.  We've been doing it this way for years and there are NO exceptions to this rule.  Please don't assume you can talk your way onto the lot at Hickory Park, it's just not safe for your kids and we won't let you on.  So leave early and please go directly to one of the park and ride locations to get the Hickory Park shuttle.

Finally, we would NOT recommend parking along Rt. 543 next to Hickory Park.  We won't stop you from doing it but keep in mind that there is a good chance that you will find an expensive little "gift" from our good friends in law enforcement if you park there - and that is not how you want to end what promises to be a great day.

We realize this seems complicated, trust us it really does work out well.  However, if you have any questions regarding parking at this year's Opening Day, please don't hesitate to contact us at

2017 Opening Day Drink Donations

Every year we ask all Hickory Baseball families to donate drinks for us to sell at the concession stand at Hickory Park.  It is especially important that we have plenty of drinks on hand for the huge and thirsty crowds we have on Opening Day.  Each family is requested to donate one pack of drinks  - a 12 pack of 12 oz soda cans or an 8 pack or 12 pack of water or sports drink.  We need these donates to be made before Saturday and you can either give your donation to your coach at your practice this coming week or drop the drinks off at the Hickory Park Concession Stand some time during the day on Friday.

To ensure we have enough variety, each age group is asked to donate different types of drinks, see the table below for the specific item that we are requesting from your age group(s).
