Guy Hancock |
 |
Guy joined HFG Baseball in 1999 and
coached his two sons through the program. Guy and his wife Linda
originated the Opening Day Carnival and ran it for 7 years. He
created the name Hickory “Hornets” and the current Hornet logo
in 2005 as he managed the 12U Travel team to the Ripken World
Series. Seven starters on the 3A 2010 State Baseball Champion - CMW Mustangs were coached by Guy during their years at Hickory.
Guy also implemented the MLB logo branding on our rec baseball
shirts which to this day helps Hickory baseball stand out as a
program. |

Brian Murphy |
 |
Brian started with HFG Baseball in
1998 and coached his daughter and two sons through the program.
He has served as coach or manager on 20 Hickory Baseball teams
including two travel teams that produced over twenty High School
players. As Sponsorship Chairman for four years, he was
instrumental in growing the relationship between Hickory
Baseball and the business community and keeping the program in
solid financial shape. Most recently his travel team won back to
back Baltimore County Majors 16-19 Championships |

Dr. Stephen
Cockey |
|
|
Stephen coached from 5-6 through
15-18 and was a tremendous supporter of HFG Baseball. He
sponsored several teams each year from every age group and his
financial support was instrumental in the growth of the program
into one of the finest in the State of Maryland. |

Len Nicewonger |
 |
Len
joined the HFG Rec Council in 1993 coaching baseball through
2005. Len became chairman of both the baseball and softball
programs in 1995 and President of the Rec Council in 1996. He
alternated as President or VP for the next 12 years. Len was
instrumental in the building of HP concession stand, batting
cages and storage shed as well Tucker Field. Len continues to
serve on the Rec Council as Director. |

Dick Jensema |
 |
Dick coached a
both the Rec and Travel level and served as Treasurer of the
baseball program for four years – leading the program to
financial stability and the improvements we have today. Dick was
always found working on the fields and played a key part in the
development of Tucker Field. He also played the key role of
draft coordinator for in house teams to insure competition and
make sure every kid had the best experience possible. |

Raymond
Stables |
|
|
Raymond was
always fun to be around with a big heart, especially with kids.
Ray managed the concession stand and gave unselfishly to the
Hickory baseball program for 14 seasons. In the summer of 2004,
Ray moved on to greater glory and is greatly missed. He will
always be in our hearts and on our minds both on and off the
field. |

| Tim
Battaglia |

Tim
has been part of Hickory Baseball for over 20
years. He has served as coach, age group
commissioner and equipment manager and has held
his current position as treasurer of
the HFG Rec Council
since 1997.Tim is a nationally certified umpire
and has been selected three times to officiate
at the Cal Ripken World Series. |

Fran is a longtime
volunteer who coached from 5-6 to 15-18. He
served as the program Registrar for several
years as well as the “Voice of Opening Day”.
Fran continues to serve on the HFG Rec Council
Board of Directors. |

Ed Taylor |
|
 |
Ed served as Chairman of the
Baseball program and coached three sons from 5-6
to 15-18. He was quick to volunteer and helped
coordinate the Opening Day activities. |

Wally Mueller |
|
 |
Wally was instrumental in the
early formation of HFG Baseball and Soccer. He
served as Chairman of the Baseball program. In
addition to his contributions for Hickory, he
served as an American Legion Coach. |
